Best Cafés in Holloway and Islington

Our aim at Electric Works is to foster a diverse community of professionals and also to encourage those with us to become a part of the local area. We have compiled a list of the best cafés in Islington and Holloway, two places within walking distance that offer choice in abundance.

It’s safe to say that a little old song by The Rolling Stones is going to lose its meaning once you’ve sampled some of the beans on offer in north London.

Ethically sourced beans and modern interior design make Saint Espresso the perfect place for the conscious coffee consumer.

One of the leading cafés in Angel, Saint Espresso is situated at the very heart of Islington’s main shopping destination and continues to satisfy locals, as well as those in need of a break from retail therapy. It’s even within walking distance of Electric Works, making it the perfect place for an early morning pick-me-up or a mid-afternoon hit of arguably the world’s most popular beverage.

High-quality coffee meets an important mission statement.

Redemption Roasters is defined by a clear ‘mission’, one that supports prison leavers and those at risk of offending in finding purpose, as well as a secure form of employment. This is not the only reason you should find time to visit and offer your support – its speciality coffee stands out too. If you have a sweet tooth, you will also be pleased to hear that there are numerous cakes to choose from, as well as a brunch menu that can only be described using one word – temptation.

A barn you might never want to leave.

Only a ten-minute walk from Electric Works, The Barn is one of the most inviting cafés in Holloway that is also owned and operated by three brothers. Rather than the ‘three musketeers’, we affectionately refer to them as the ‘three baristas’. Aside from high-quality coffee beans and latte art, you can indulge in homemade cakes at this north London establishment. Delicious homemade food is available too, making it an ideal spot for breakfast or lunch.

The café in Holloway for those that think ‘outside the box’.

Holloway Road is a real ‘hot spot’ when it comes to the speciality coffee scene and one of the best places to go for a perfectly made latte or flat white is Vagabond N7. The word ‘vagabond’ can be interpreted in many different ways but when it comes to this north London outpost, our thoughts are only positive. Its Lithuanian founder embraced the vagabond spirit by moving to London before finally settling on a home for the business. You can do the same by making the short walk from Electric Works and sampling what it has to offer.

You know exactly what to expect from Caffè Nero.

Caffè Nero may be a fixture in most towns and cities across the UK, but each store has its own unique charm, whether that be staff members who are particularly skilled at remembering faces or the charming wood-panelled fittings. On Holloway Road, you will find an array of different coffee shops, all of which offer something unique. However, it has to be said that this Italian-inspired chain is known for one thing – consistency. If that is more up your street, then venture out from the comfort of Electric Works for a worry-free break.

Electric Works is just a stone’s throw from the lively areas of Islington and Holloway, making it the perfect base from which to enjoy the best cafés that these areas have to offer. For those already in our community, you are all set with these recommendations. If you are yet to find your next creative space, contact us now to learn how we can help you thrive.
